Proceeds raised will benefit ThinkFirst of Greater Kansas City

KANSAS CITY, Mo., (Jul. 17, 2013) – The Research Foundation is hosting the 24th Annual Research Golf Classic and Auction on Monday, August 19th at Blue Hills Country Club. Beginning at 12:30 p.m., golfers will enjoy an 18-hole, four-person scramble with a shotgun start. Immediately following the Golf Classic, golfers are invited to attend a cocktail reception, food buffet, and awards ceremony.

Serving as Presenting Sponsor of the 24th Annual Research Golf Classic and Auction is Research Medical Center. Other major sponsors include Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas City, Quest Diagnostics, and AT Abatement Services, Inc.

Proceeds raised from the event will benefit The Research Foundation’s ThinkFirst, an injury prevention program that provides free school-based assemblies to public and private schools in the metropolitan area. Reaching over 40,000 students during the 2012-2013 academic year, the program is presented by a healthcare professional and ThinkFirst Voices for Injury Prevention (VIP) speakers who have sustained a spinal cord or brain injury. These speakers serve as safety advocates and depending on the age of the students, discuss a variety of topics during the assembly including seat belt usage, sports and recreation safety, helmet usage, motor-vehicle safety, water safety and avoiding violence.

“This annual event is a great opportunity for patrons of The Research Foundation and members of the community to join together and have fun while supporting a great cause,” said The Research Foundation President Cynthia Randazzo. “This year, the Foundation looks forward to another successful Golf Classic. By participating as a golfer or sponsor, know that you are helping us educate youth through our award-winning ThinkFirst program.”

Limited golf spots are still available for $275. The registration fee includes green fees, golf cart rental, boxed lunch, on-course beverages and snacks, player gift, cocktail party and food buffet as well as the opportunity to win prizes throughout the day. To register, please call The Research Foundation at 816-276-4218. Sponsorships and auction items are still needed. Both items are needed to raise funds for ThinkFirst of Greater Kansas City.
