CASS COUNTY DENTAL CLINIC HOSTS OPEN HOUSE AND RIBBON CUTTING CEREMONY

BELTON, MO., Sept. 16, 2011 – The Cass County Dental Clinic and Research Belton Foundation hosted an open house for invited guests, staff members, Research Belton Foundation board members, city officials and other dignitaries. In addition, the clinic partnered with the Belton Chamber of Commerce to hold a ribbon cutting ceremony, officially welcoming the organization to the community.

Opened in early July, the Cass County Dental Clinic provides dental services to children and adolescents from the ages of birth through 20 who are either on Medicaid or are uninsured. These services include x-rays, exams, fillings, extractions, pulp therapy, crowns, cleanings, sealants and fluoride varnish. It also will serve as a resource for the community on oral health issues and recommendations.

During the first eight weeks of operation, 456 children were treated through 645 encounters, and 392 were scheduled for future appointments.

“This has been a long, arduous journey in getting the clinic established, and we could not be happier with the results,” said Research Belton Foundation president Cynthia Randazzo. “Studies have shown that dental decay is the most common chronic childhood illness, and with approximately 6,000 children on Medicaid in Cass County, we saw that there was a definite need for the dental clinic.”

Office hours for the dental clinic are Monday, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.; Tuesday through Thursday, 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.; and Friday, 8 a.m. to noon.
