7th Annual Community Block Party & Health Fair Scheduled for Saturday, April 27th

Family-friendly event focuses on outreach, improving community health

KANSAS CITY, Mo., (Apr. 17, 2013) – On Saturday, April 27th, The Research Foundation will host the 7th Annual Community Block Party & Health Fair on the west parking lot of Research Medical Center located at 2316 E. Meyer Boulevard in Kansas City, Missouri. From 10 a.m. – 1 p.m., this free health and wellness outreach event will feature more than 90 health-related exhibitor booths, free health screenings, half-mile and one mile ‘Fun Walk,” children’s activity area and local entertainment to event attendants.

“The 7th Annual Community Block Party & Health Fair promotes health and wellness in a family-friendly environment,” said Cynthia Randazzo, President of The Research Foundation. “Members of the community will have the opportunity to learn from booth exhibitors as well as receive a variety of health screenings. This outreach event aims to educate members of the community on maintaining and improving their health while also having fun.”

This annual event will once again offer live cooking demonstrations by local celebrity chef Jasper Mirabile, Jr. at 10:25 and 11:25 am. Other confirmed activities include Hot 103 Jamz on site at the event, the Kansas City Fire Department fire engine, the BEARCAT Tactical Unit from the KCMO Police Department, the Seatbelt Convincer from Missouri State Highway Patrol and Pink Heals Pink Fire Truck for cancer awareness and survivorship.

The children’s activity area, sponsored by the Research College of Nursing, will feature a variety of carnival games, moonwalk, face painting and free books courtesy of the Kansas City Public Library. The Brain Injury Association of Kansas & Greater Kansas City will also distribute free bicycle helmets to the first 250 children.
