Summer High School Nursing Experience Scholarships
Purpose: The purpose of this scholarship is to provide opportunities for high school seniors to learn about the expanding role of nurses in modern health care and gain valuable skills to use in their academic and professional career.
Students preparing to enter their senior year of high school are eligible to receive $250 to attend the Research College of Nursing/Rockhurst University Summer Nursing Experience. For four days, students will work on group projects, take part in laboratory experiments and engage in exciting discussions. Participants can expect to receive hands-on experience in a college science laboratory instructed by full-time professors. Scholarships are made possible through a grant provided by the R.A. Long Foundation.
Eligibility: In order to receive a scholarship, the student must meet the minimum application requirements to be admitted to camp. Applications for the Summer High School Nursing Experience are accepted through the Rockhurst University Office of Admissions
Deadline: June 1.
Application Requirements: Scholarship selection is based primarily on the essay component of the application. You must submit an essay answering the following questions. Your essay should not exceed one typed page.
1. What factors influenced your interest in a nursing career?
2. Why do you wish to attend the Nursing Camp?
3. Why are you in need of a scholarship?
4. Why do you believe you should be selected?
