MSN in Nursing Education Scholarships
Purpose: The purpose of this scholarship is to enhance the recruitment and retention of masters prepared nurse educators in the Greater Kansas City area through the funding of graduate study with an emphasis in the nurse educator role.
The MSN in Nursing Education Scholarship is available up to a maximum amount of $2,500 per year for a total amount of $5,000. The period of one-year may be defined as beginning in the fall, continuing through spring and summer. For each $2,500 utilized, the individual is required to commit one year of employment as a full-time or part-time (at least 20 hours per week) faculty member in a College of Nursing at one of the 18 member schools of the Greater Kansas City Collegiate Nurse Educators following completion of MSN. If the individual does not complete the two-year work agreement, the individual will need to repay the loan amount that corresponds with the remaining years of work commitment. If the individual does not complete the MSN in five years, he/she must repay the total amount of the loan.
Tuition reimbursement from your employer should be accessed first prior to accepting a scholarship award from The Research Foundation.
Recipients will continue to receive funding if it is determined by The Research Foundation that satisfactory progress is evident. Individuals may request a one-year leave for extenuating circumstance based on approval by The Research Foundation. For individuals who choose part-time study, funding distribution will be based on total number of credits completed per semester including summer sessions.
The funding may be used for tuition and fees. Applicant should apply for scholarship before beginning coursework.
Eligibility: Individuals must hold a BSN and/or meet admission requirements for graduate study in a nationally accredited nursing program and have a minimum undergraduate GPA of 3.0 or higher to apply.
Deadline: Applications are accepted throughout the year.
