Overview
The symposium has been planned and designed to provide primary members of the healthcare team with the tools and knowledge they need to identify and treat various cardiac conditions of their patients.
Objectives
• Describe the etiology, epidemiology, and presentation of chronic venous insufficiency.
• Identify treatment options for chronic venous insufficiency.
• Review common etiologies for syncope.
• List available evaluation and treatment options for syncope.
• Review the history and science behind modern electrocardiography.
• List basic techniques for interpreting an electrocardiogram.
• Identify current therapeutic options for treatment of valvular heart disease.
• Describe potential future options for treating valvular heart disease.
• Describe the clinical characteristics of gender differences in heart disease.
• State options for prevention and treatment of women with heart disease.
• Review recommendations for inpatient management of persons with chronic ischemic heart disease.
• Describe outpatient management options for persons with chronic ischemic heart disease.
Target Audience
The target audience includes Primary Care Physicians, Advance Practice Nurses, and Nurses in Acute and Ambulatory settings.
