What Schools Say
Ninety-nine percent of the schools surveyed last year that hosted an assembly would schedule a ThinkFirst program in the future and ninety-nine percent would recommend a ThinkFirst presentation to other schools.
Here is what schools say about ThinkFirst of Greater Kansas City:
“Young people hear over and over again about the consequences of poor choices but the presence and voice of the young adults who shared their own story was very powerful.”
Ann Heid, St. Teresa’s Academy
“Long after Red Ribbon Week is over, students remember ThinkFirst. The message to wear your seat belt and avoid head injuries is universal. Your speakers give students what they need: a look at the real world, and good advice to face it.”
Linda Nading, Satchel Paige Elementary
“Our event was attended by students from the Chrisman & Van Horn High Schools senior class. I felt that a strong message was sent to the teens in regards to making the right choices and decisions while driving. The attendees were able to see all the serious and lasting implications a serious crash can have.”
Don Fowler, Independence Missouri Police Department
“Sometimes teachers grumble about assemblies. But every single eighth grade teacher wants this program at our school. The kids relate to the everyday experiences the presenters speak of – riding in the car, playing football, diving into the pool. It applies to everyone and could one day save someone’s life.”
Tina Thaden, Antioch Middle School
“The response to your speakers was overwhelming. It is programs like this that reinforce a very critical message, and educate young people in making better choices.”
Elisa Pener, Hyman Brand Hebrew Academy
