Anniversary Golf Classic raises $89,000 for The Research Foundation

KANSAS CITY, Mo., (Aug. 20, 2019) – The 30th Anniversary Research Medical Center Golf Classic raised more than $89,000 in net proceeds for The Research Foundation’s health education and scholarship programs.

The 30th annual Golf Classic was hosted at Milburn Country Club in Overland Park, Kansas Monday, August 19. Nearly 40 volunteers and 144 golfers participated in the 18-hole, four person scramble sell-out event. Several Kansas City companies who have supported The Research Foundation throughout the 30-year history of the tournament were represented including major sponsors Research Medical Center, LabCorp, AT Abatement, Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas City, JE Dunn Construction, Heartland Electric Corporation and McCarthy Auto Group. 

“The Golf Classic has played an important role in creating relationships for The Research Foundation over the past 30 years. Some golfers have participated in every tournament and some teams are now in their third generation of support. Many of our volunteers have lent their time and resources for several years as well. ” Rose Simone, The Research Foundation tournament director, said. “Our programs have grown and developed because of the Kansas City community members who continuously support this event.”

The Research Foundation is a not-for-profit organization in Kansas City, Missouri dedicated to empowering people to lead healthier lives through health education and scholarship programs including injury prevention, nursing and allied health scholarships, continuing education opportunities in health care and assistance to low-income cancer patients.
