Give back to caregivers during The Research Foundation’s first #GivingTuesday campaign

KANSAS CITY, Mo., (Nov. 12, 2018) – This #GivingTuesday, The Research Foundation will celebrate caregivers by raising $5,000 for nursing student scholarships.

Each year, The Research Foundation awards thousands of dollars in scholarships to nursing students in Kansas City. For its first #GivingTuesday campaign, the Foundation hopes to raise $5,000 for their scholarship fund. Scholarships are given to nursing students in their junior and senior years and can range from $3,750 to $26,000.

#GivingTuesday is a global day of online giving that harnesses the collective power of individuals, communities and organizations to encourage philanthropy and to celebrate generosity worldwide. Following Thanksgiving and the widely recognized shopping events Black Friday and Cyber Monday, this year’s #GivingTuesday will take place on November 27 and will kick off the giving season by inspiring people to collaborate and give back.

Founded in 2012 by the 92nd Street Y – a community and cultural center in New York City - #GivingTuesday inspired millions of people to give back and support the causes they believe in. More than $300 million was raised online to benefit a tremendously broad range of organizations, and much more was given in volunteer hours, donations of food and clothing, and acts of kindness.

“We are inspired by the #GivingTuesday movement and its power to motivate entire communities,” Cynthia Randazzo, The Research Foundation president and CEO, said. “As we prepare for November 27, we’re energized by our supportive network and encourage all of those that are interested in investing in the future of nursing to help us reach our $5,000 goal for nursing student scholarships.”
