Golfers and volunteers brave rain to raise $89,000 for ThinkFirst of Greater Kansas City

KANSAS CITY, Mo., (Aug. 21, 2018) – The 29th Annual Research Medical Center Golf Classic raised more than $89,000 for The Research Foundation’s injury prevention program, ThinkFirst of Greater Kansas City.

The Research Foundation hosted the tournament at Milburn Country Club in Overland Park, Kansas Monday, August 20. Golfers and volunteers endured rain the entire duration of play. The 18-hole, four person scramble was a sell-out event with 144 golfers from various Kansas City companies including major sponsors Research Medical Center, LabCorp, AT Abatement, Blue Cross Blue Shield Kansas City, Cintas, JE Dunn Construction, Heartland Electric Company and McCarthy Auto Group.

“We are grateful that The Research Foundation has a supportive community,” Rose Simone, The Research Foundation director of development, said. “These Kansas City physicians, health care workers and business partners were in the rain for five to six hours to help us keep youth in our city safe.”

ThinkFirst brings health educators and survivors of brain and spinal cord injuries to Kansas City area schools to present free, school-based assemblies.
