The Research Foundation’s dinner and auction raises more than $120,000 for nursing scholarships

KANSAS CITY, Mo., (Nov. 16, 2021) – The Research Foundation’s supporters celebrated nursing students Saturday, November 2 at the Research Royal Dinner & Auction: Night Shift, A Benefit Under the Stars. The event raised more than $120,000 for nursing student scholarships. Every dollar will be awarded to those enrolled in the nursing programs as Avila University, Research College of Nursing, and William Jewell College.

The Research Royal Dinner & Auction included cocktails, dinner, and music by KC Flo. Attendees had the opportunity to participate in a 50/50 raffle, wine pull, and silent auction.

Ann Leiber, a senior at Research College of Nursing and recipient of an undergraduate nursing student scholarship from the foundation, delivered opening remarks regarding her journey to nursing and how the scholarship enhanced her nursing school experience. Research School of Nursing Class of 1977 graduate, Terry Miller, provided the invocation.

Top sponsors included Research Medical Center, UMB Bank, and LabCorp. Other major sponsors include J.E. Dunn Construction and David E. Ross Construction. Dr. Kavitha Arabindoo served as the chair for the event. Dr. Vijay Parthiban won $2,300 in the 50/50 raffle and donated it back to The Research Foundation for nursing student scholarships. 

The Research Foundation awards scholarships to undergraduate nursing students in Kansas City each year. During the 2021-2022 academic year, the foundation awarded more than $255,000 to students at Avila University, Research College of Nursing, and William Jewell College.
