Eligibility
The award is open to all nurses (RN, LPN, Advanced Practice Nurses, etc.). Candidates should be nominated by nurse leaders or peers. Champions of Nursing Lifetime Achievement nominees nominees will be eligible to receive the award only once during their career. The purpose of this award is to recognize a nurse for a lifetime of integrity, leadership, commitment, respect, and excellence. The award recognizes those who have made a lasting impact or contribution to nursing throughout their career. Nurses can be nominated on any one or more of the following criteria:
- Integrity: Demonstrates consistency in moral judgement and care of those around them and provides care with empathy and fairness. Demonstrates integrity in all facets of nursing, empowering others to stand up for what is right while supporting health care equity & equality.
- Leadership: Demonstrates exceptional leadership through roles in their healthcare organizations, community outreach, and/or regional to national organizations. Has inspired others through leadership, encouragement of ongoing leadership opportunities, and promotion of teamwork across all disciplines to improve patient care. Influences nursing policy to improve care to patients and enhance overall health. Serves as a mentor for new/novice nurses to strengthen the profession.
- Commitment: Demonstrates a commitment of consistent care for clients, families, and healthcare providers through advocacy and compassionate care. Shows a commitment to adapting to and overcoming challenges in the healthcare field while improving client outcomes and upholding patient and provider safety. Demonstrates resiliency through length of service and longtime commitment to patients.
- Respect: Demonstrates a profound respect for all people. Demonstrates a spirit of collaboration among teams, valuing individual contributions and perspectives to fuel positive change in healthcare. Upholds professional standards and the values of the nursing profession.
- Excellence: Demonstrates excellence in nursing practice, leads with integrity, and shows consistent commitment to the achievement of positive healthcare outcomes.
Nomination Requirements
- Completed Champions of Nursing Lifetime Achievement Award Nomination Form below.
- A short essay that describes how the nominee meets the criteria above. The essay should not exceed two typed page. Essays that exceed two pages will not be considered. Please do not utilize a font size smaller than 10-point.
- Letter of support from a nurse leader or healthcare colleague.
- OPTIONAL – Upload a letter/note from a patient or a photo of the nurse in clinical, teaching, or leadership setting.
- Must be currently licensed as a nurse in Missouri or Kansas. Preference will be given to those currently working in the Greater Kansas City area.
- All honorees selected must be available to attend the Research Royal Dinner on Saturday, November 1, 2025. Recipients will receive two complimentary tickets.
Deadline
Nominations must be submitted to The Research Foundation by July 15, 2025.
