Eligibility
The award is open to all new nurses (RN, LPN, Advanced Practice Nurses, etc.). The nurse may be nominated by nurse leaders or healthcare colleagues. Champions of Nursing Rising Star nominees will be eligible for the award during their first 3 years after graduating from a nursing program.
The award is given to an individual who demonstrates leadership and positivity, and fosters teamwork while providing high-quality holistic patient-centered care. Nurses can be nominated on any of the following criteria:
- Demonstrates outstanding clinical performance and problem-solving skills
- Demonstrates ability to overcome clinical obstacles
- Demonstrates a commitment to providing high-quality care that is holistic
- Promotes a positive culture that fosters teamwork and communication to care for patients and families
- Demonstrates leadership skills to serve as an advocate for patients and a mentor for future nurses
Nomination Requirements
- Completed Champions of Nursing Rising Star Award Nomination Form below.
- A short essay that describes how the nominee meets the criteria above. The essay should not exceed one typed page. Essays that exceed one page will not be considered. Please do not utilize a font size smaller than 10-point.
- Letter of support from a nurse leader or healthcare colleague.
- OPTIONAL – Upload a letter/note from a patient or a photo of the nurse in clinical, teaching, or leadership setting.
- Must be currently licensed as a nurse in Missouri or Kansas. Preference will be given to those currently working in the Greater Kansas City area.
- All honorees selected must be available to attend the Research Royal Dinner on Saturday, November 1, 2025. Recipients will receive two complimentary tickets.
Deadline
Nominations must be submitted to The Research Foundation by July 15, 2025.
