KANSAS CITY, Mo., (Nov. 11, 2025) – The Research Foundation is celebrating Giving Tuesday by raising funds for its Nursing Student Emergency Fund, with a goal of $5,000 on Tuesday, December 2, to help nursing students facing unexpected emergencies.

The fund provides critical support for students experiencing housing insecurity, transportation challenges, utility or food shortages, and other urgent needs. It is available to both traditional and accelerated BSN students at Avila University, Research College of Nursing, and William Jewell College.

"The Nursing Emergency Fund provided gas money and groceries for my family at a time when focusing on life necessities like meals and transportation was threatening my ability to stay in nursing school, said Jayden Gragg, Research College or Nursing student. “It can be hard to ask for help, but the process was very easy, and The Research Foundation staff were helpful and kind."

Another Research College of Nursing student, Ryan Harness, shared, "The assistance I received from the Nursing Student Emergency Fun and The Research Foundation was a godsend at the time. I lost my little brother three months into the ABSN program, and it’s left all of us reeling. The process was easy and fast and filled a gap. It was meaningful help that my family is so thankful for."

Giving Tuesday is a global movement inspiring people and organizations to give back, collaborate, and celebrate generosity. Launched in 2012, it has grown into an international day of giving, sparking charitable action worldwide.
