KANSAS CITY, Mo., (Dec. 8, 2025) – The Research Foundation has awarded $22,000 in scholarships to allied health students studying radiation therapy, nuclear medicine technology, and radiologic technology in the Kansas City region.

Awarded students were enrolled in the Penn Valley Community College School of Radiology, Research Medical Center School of Radiology, Research Medical Center School of Nuclear Medicine Technology, and Washburn University Radiation Therapy Certificate Program.

Washburn University Radiation Therapy Certificate Program student Katherine Kaufman was awarded a $2,500 scholarship, which is provided by the Therapeutic Radiologist Endowment Fund established through The Research Foundation.

Scholarship recipients from the Research Medical Center School of Nuclear Medicine Technology include Dragana Andonovski, August Hutfles, Jessica Johnson, Elizabeth Liu, and Catelynn Lowder. Nuclear medicine technology scholarships totaled $8,000.

Radiologic technology scholarships totaled $11,500. Natlie Riley and Hannah Turner, students from Penn Valley Community College School of Radiology, were awarded scholarships. Recipients at the Research Medical Center School of Radiology include Evan Bishop, Tara Bowles, Bradley Drummond, Gabrielle Hodges, and Emily Miller.

Gabrielle Hodges was awarded the Sarah Wilson Thompson Scholarship. The Sarah Wilson Thompson Scholarship was established in 1999 in memory of Sarah Wilson Thompson, a graduate of the Radiologic Technology Program at Research Medical Center. Sarah lost her battle with lymphoma shortly after completing the program. After her death, employees and friends created a scholarship fund in her memory. This fund helps future students who want to pursue the field of radiologic technology that Sarah was dedicated to during her life. The Research Foundation supports a student each year with a scholarship. It is the highest honor the foundation awards to radiologic technology students.
