The Research Foundation offers scholarships to support local students pursuing their License in Practical Nursing (LPN) to alleviate barriers and support training for quality nurses in our community. Awards will range from a minimum of $1,000 to a maximum of $3,500. Award decisions and amounts are based on evaluation of each student's application. All award decisions are at the sole discretion of The Research Foundation.

Eligibility
Applicants must be currently enrolled as a student in the LPN program at one of the following institutions:

• Cass Career Center in Harrisonville, Missouri
• Johnson County Community College in Overland Park, Kansas
• Kansas City Kansas Community College in Kansas City, Kansas
• Metropolitan Community College - Penn Valley in Kansas City, Missouri

Applicants must be residents of one of the six counties in the Kansas City metro area. These include Cass, Clay, Jackson, or Platte counties in Missouri and Johnson or Wyandotte counties in Kansas. Preference will be given to residents of Jackson County and residents of Kansas City, Missouri. Preference will also be given to students with a minimum GPA of 2.5 or higher.

Deadline
The deadline to apply is April 1, 2026. Notification of awards will be made by June 5. Scholarship funds will be distributed in partial or full payment directly to the school program by June 12 and will be applied to the student's Fall 2026 tuition/program cost.

Application Requirements
•  Upload the letter of acceptance from your LPN program.
• Completed Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) Release Form. Download the FERPA form (PDF).
• Upload your most recent transcript. The transcript does not need to be an official copy. This could be your recent high school transcript, recent college coursework, or coursework already completed toward your LPN. If you do not have a transcript, please email kate@theresearchfoundationkc.org.
