UNDERGRADUATE NURSING

  • Eligibility and application requirements

    ELIGIBILITY
    Individuals must be enrolled in the traditional nursing program at Avila University, Research College of Nursing/Rockhurst University Nursing Program, or William Jewell College. Students must have a minimum GPA of 3.0 or higher to be eligible to apply and must be a current sophomore or junior nursing student. Nursing Accelerated Option and Nursing Accelerate Track students are not eligible to apply. Scholarships may only be applied to tuition.

    APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS
    1. An essay that communicates what factors/experiences influenced your decision to choose nursing as a career. Explain how your leadership experience and/or community activities will have an influence on you as a professional nurse. If you have had clinical experience, please share a story of how it reinforced your decision to become a nurse. Include a statement that expresses why you should be considered for a scholarship award from The Research Foundation. Your essay should not exceed one typed page and must include name.
    2. Letter of recommendation from a faculty member (must be signed on letterhead). Letter of recommendation is only required for first-time applicants.
    3. Complete Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) Release Form. Provide a signed copy to the person you select to provide your letter of recommendation. Download the FERPA form (PDF).
    4. Official transcripts sent by the college or university are only required for first-time applicants.

    DEADLINE
    The deadline to apply is March 1. Notification of awards will be made by June 1 and scholarship funds will be distributed to the College or University by August 1.


RADIOLOGIC AND NUCLEAR MEDICINE TECHNOLOGY

Encouraging allied health students through the funding of radiologic and nuclear medicine technology student scholarships.

  • Eligibility and application requirements

    ELIGIBILITY
    Only first year Radiologic Technology students and Nuclear Medicine Technology students currently studying in the 12-month certificate program are eligible to apply. Students must be enrolled at Penn Valley Community College School of Radiology, Research Medical Center School of Radiology, Research Medical Center School of Nuclear Medicine Technology or the University of Kansas Medical Center Nuclear Medicine Certificate Program. Students must have a minimum GPA of 3.0 or higher to be eligible to apply.

    APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS
    1. An essay answering the following questions. Please include your career goals. Scholarship selection is based primarily on the essay component of the application. Your essay should be in 12 point font, double spaced and not exceed one typed page.

    • What factors influenced you to choose radiology technology or nuclear medicine technology as a career?
    • How would you see your role as a radiologic technologist/nuclear medicine technologist influence patient outcomes in a positive manner?

    2. Complete Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) Release Form. Download the FERPA form (PDF).

    DEADLINE
    The deadline to apply is April 1. Notification of awards will be made by June 1 and funds will be distributed to the radiology or nuclear medicine technology school by August 1.


SUMMER NURSING EXPERIENCE

Offering a unique experience for high school students interested in nursing.

  • Eligibility and application requirements

    ELIGIBILITY
    Students preparing to enter their junior or senior year of high school are eligible to receive a scholarship toward the cost to attend the Summer Nursing Experience at Research College of Nursing. Students can expect to explore the field of nursing, shadow professional nurses, get hands-on experience and make new friends. Scholarships are made possible through a grant provided by the R.A. Long Foundation. If awarded, scholarships are in the amount of $75. Families will be asked to provide the remaining $25.

    In order to receive a scholarship, the student must be admitted to the Summer Nursing Experience. Applications for the Summer Nursing Experience are accepted through Research College of Nursing. 

    APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS
    Scholarship selection is based on the following questions.

    • What factors influenced your interest in a nursing career?
    • Why do you wish to attend the Summer Nursing Experience?
    • Why are you in need of a scholarship?
    • Why do you believe you should be selected?

    The deadline to apply is May 15.
